A cow was run over by a vehicle and left unattended. She was severely injured – her skin and muscles torn, one horn fractured, and bleeding heavily while in terrible pain. A mare (female horse) was in desperate need of help, lying idle along the side of the road for days. A vehicle had run over her, severely injuring her hoof. Twenty-three animals were poisoned over an inconsequential dispute – sixteen tragically lost their lives, while seven of them survived. In the early hours of January 1, 2026, at Selai, Egattur, Thiruvallur district, we found an injured pregnant cow who had been shot with a gun, causing several grave injuries to both hind legs. In a nearby village, we found a buffalo in severe pain, bleeding heavily from its fractured horn. Our veterinary and rescue team rushed to help control the bleeding and provide immediate treatment. A pregnant cow was in severe labour pain for nearly 8 hours, unable to deliver her calf. The cow was immediately brought to our sanctuary and attended to by our veterinary surgeon, Dr Ajith Kumar . Upon diagnosis, he mentioned that the obstructed labour was due to a congenitally narrow pelvis and a pelvic fracture. On hearing a desperate cry for help coming from their neighbourhood, Mrs Aathirai and her husband, Mr Saravanan, informed Sai Vignesh (our founder) about two domestic pigs that were badly injured and tied up for slaughter. On 11 December 2025, while I was travelling near Maraimalai Nagar, I noticed a long container truck. The vehicle was leaking foul-smelling liquid (a mixture of dung and urine) and I immediately understood that cattle were being transported illegally. I called 100 and informed the police that the truck was heading towards the Paranur Toll Gate. The Chengalpattu Taluk Police intercepted the vehicle before it crossed the tollgate. Meet Kayal 💚 Raised by a family in Thiruvarur, she met with an accident that left her foreleg fractured. When the family decided to sell her for slaughter, their daughter chose compassion — and handed her over to us instead. After a 6-hour journey, Kayal finally reached our sanctuary. She’s now under treatment with a Plaster of Paris bandage on her leg and is slowly healing in comfort and care. We hope to continue to give her a life of love and care at the Sanctuary.

Peppa was just a day old when her mother was poisoned and killed. Leaving her and her litter abandoned. The rest of her litter didn’t make it, but peppa refused to give up. Found abandoned on Minjur Highway, this gentle boy was fighting a deep, maggot-infested wound on his hind leg. 💔 Thanks to the quick action of Mr. Manikandan, who rushed him to our sanctuary, he finally received the urgent care he needed.
