Kannan’s Journey From Darkness to Light

Kannan was rescued as a 4-month-old male calf with severe maggot-infested wounds around his eyes. He couldn’t see anything, and he had been abandoned on the road because male calves are not “profitable” for the dairy industry. We named him Kannan — because in Tamil, Kannan refers to Lord Krishna, known for his beautiful, expressive eyes.
Ironically and tragically, this little calf was found in a condition where he could barely use his own. Many believed he would never regain his vision, but we refused to give up. With continuous cleaning, medication and care, Kannan slowly began to heal.

Today, he can see again, and he spends his days happily with his friends in the sanctuary — living up to the name Kannan, with eyes full of life and innocence.
