We found them in a state that no living being should ever be in — cruelly tied up, barely able to move, and left to rot in their own filth. These pigs had been discarded like they didn’t matter, suffering in silence and pain for who knows how long. When we arrived, their eyes were wide with fear, their bodies weak from neglect, and the air around them heavy with hopelessness.
They were immediately brought back to the sanctuary.
We rushed them to safety, unsure of how much damage had been done but determined to give them every chance at healing. Our hope was simple — that in time, they would begin to feel what safety, comfort, and trust could be like again. That they would know that not all hands bring harm, and not all humans are cruel.
But healing from such deep trauma takes time. Even now, long after their rescue, they shy away from strangers. The fear is still there — a reminder of the cruelty they endured at the hands of people who should have known better. They flinch at sudden movements, retreat when someone new comes close. Their trust, so violently broken, is being rebuilt one gentle moment at a time.
At the sanctuary, they have found a small circle of people they’ve learned to trust. Familiar voices, soft touches, and quiet presence — these are the things that help them feel safe.
They’ve also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Their favorite food brings out little glimmers of excitement.
And most importantly, they have each other. The bond between them is deep, quiet, and comforting. They huddle together in rest, nudge each other in reassurance, and share in the peace of their newfound freedom.
They will never again know the harshness or cruelty they once did. Their lives from now on will be filled only with gentleness, patience, and love.
With a heavy heart, we also share that one of the pigs — the third in this innocent trio — has passed away. Her loss is deeply felt. She deserved so much more than the life she was dealt before she came to us. But in her final chapter, she knew safety. She knew care. She was not alone.
It is hard to fathom the kind of cruelty that brought them to us in the first place. These pigs, like all animals, are sentient beings — capable of pain, joy, fear, and love. They deserve to live free from harm, not tied up and forgotten.
Their story is a reminder of the urgent need for compassion, awareness, and action. And it is also a reminder that love can still find a way — even in the most broken of places.
