A disturbing reel surfaced on Instagram showing a horse being forced to walk over burning embers during a Village festival in Namagiripettai, Namakkal District. The horse was visibly in pain — terrified and confused — all for the sake of a ritual.
This was not a spiritual act.
This was blatant cruelty.
Mr. Sai Vignesh, President of Almighty Animal Care Trust, came across the video and immediately took action. A formal complaint was filed with the Namakkal District Police, with detailed evidence preserved to ensure accountability.
Following the complaint and swift investigation, the accused — Chetty alias Kumaravel — was arrested under:
🔹 Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960
🔹 Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023
The Namakkal Police, through their social media surveillance team, verified the incident and took commendable legal action. The horse has since been examined and treated. However, the emotional and psychological trauma inflicted cannot be ignored.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the police department for treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves.
But this case raises a bigger question:
How many animals suffer in silence, hidden behind the veil of tradition or ignorance?
Cruelty is not culture.
Violence cannot be a not ritual.
And animals are not props for our celebrations
